18 April 2024 – The leader of BSE SME & Startup, Ajay Thakur, has left the company. In 2012 and 2018, he was a key figure in the establishment of the Startup Platform and the SME Exchange in India.

As the Head of Arbitration when he joined BSE in 1996, Thakur was instrumental in the creation of the arbitration-related bylaws and rules that complied with the 1996 Arbitration and Conciliation Act.

Additionally, Thakur was instrumental in forming the Arbitration committee, which was composed of reputable, impartial individuals. In 2002, he was also given responsibility for business development. In addition, he developed the stock markets and BSE derivatives, which account for roughly 27% of the total. BSE Sensex Futures was the main driver of volume in the BSE Derivatives Market.

Furthermore, he set up regional offices around the country. Speaking about his departure from BSE SME, Thakur told BW Businessworld that he wasn’t motivated to leave due to any particular circumstance or incident. He went on to say that he will keep working to improve the nation’s SME environment, referring to it as the foundation of the Indian economy.
