Although 500 Million People Have Downloaded This Well-Known Podcast App, Google is Discontinuing it in the US

01 April 2024 – With more than 500 million downloads worldwide, Google’s Podcasts app will no longer be available to customers in the US on April 2. Though the site has a big user base, just around 4% of American podcast listeners actually use it. Users who now need to move their podcast subscription data to other platforms are worried about this impending termination.

However, consumers may be exposed to security concerns, including fraud and credential theft, throughout this difficult transfer process. It may come as a surprise, considering its broad appeal, that Google’s Podcasts app is ending for customers in the United States.

Users in the United States will no longer be able to use the app after April 2, but users internationally will still be able to use it. U.S. consumers have been receiving in-app messages telling them to pay attention and move their subscription data before the deadline. The YouTube team announced the service termination and said that the firm is increasing its investment in podcasts on the YouTube Music platform. The goal of this change is to improve podcasting by adding special features designed only for listeners and producers.

Conclusion

Users need to take a few easy actions, such as using the Google Podcasts app’s export subscriptions option and moving data to YouTube Music. Google does caution users that not all podcasts will be accessible on YouTube Music, but they may still be saved by utilizing RSS feed connections.
