18 April 2024 – Tech behemoth Apple and Mumbai-based CleanMax, a renewable energy company, have formed a joint venture to invest in six rooftop solar projects with a combined capacity of 14.4 MW.
In addition to providing electricity for Apple’s two retail locations and corporate headquarters in India, the solar projects will lessen the company’s carbon impact in relation to its activities there. According to a statement by CleanMax, these installations are anticipated to limit carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 207,000 tonnes over their lifetime.
This action is consistent with Apple’s larger environmental initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality across the whole value chain by 2030. The Cupertino-based business states that as of 2018, all of its corporate offices worldwide are powered entirely by sustainable energy.
