Don't Hold MKBHD Responsible For Humane AI And Fisker's Demise

18 April 2024 – Humane AI raised more than $230 million before launching a single product. When it eventually debuted the Ai Pin, which retails for $699 plus a $24 monthly subscription, almost all tech reviewers reached the same depressing conclusion: this much-hyped device, which is meant to upend smartphone supremacy, isn’t that great.

However, some observers claim that MKBHD, the wildly successful YouTuber Marques Brownlee, will bear sole responsibility for the company’s ultimate demise. Not too long after Humane AI released its much-anticipated product, the discussion shifted from the product to how Brownlee described it in his assessment.

The title of Brownlee’s video, “The Worst Product I’ve Ever Reviewed… For Now,” is undoubtedly a little clickbait. However, the title lives up to the hype in the actual video.

Conclusion

In the review, which has received over 5 million views so far, Brownlee admits that it was difficult to come up with a title for the video. However, I once thought of this as a working title that said, “This product is either the dumbest thing ever, or I’m an idiot.” With more than 18 million YouTube followers, Brownlee has an extraordinary amount of influence. Yet, his criticisms are similar to those of other reviews in that the pin has a short battery life.
