16 March 2024 – Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) joint secretary Sanjiv emphasizes the significance of supporting startups in key sectors like manufacturing, deeptech, gaming, and esports. The upcoming Startup Mahakumbh event, scheduled from March 18-20, 2024 in Delhi, aims to provide a platform for startups to showcase their innovations and gain valuable insights and support.
Background:
Sanjiv underscores the need to nurture and promote startups in less prominent sectors such as manufacturing and deeptech, which are crucial for India’s economic growth and technological advancement. The event will feature pavilions focusing on various sectors, including AI and SaaS, agritech, manufacturing, biotech and pharma, deeptech, and gaming and esports, among others.
The Startup Mahakumbh is expected to bring together a diverse ecosystem of over 1,000 startups, investors, incubators, accelerators, business visitors, and international delegations. It aims to foster collaboration, provide funding opportunities, and offer mentorship and guidance to startups in critical sectors like manufacturing.
Conclusion:
Sanjiv believes that initiatives like the Startup Mahakumbh and the upcoming Bharat Startup Ecosystem Registry will play a pivotal role in supporting startups, encouraging innovation, and driving economic growth. By creating platforms for startups to connect with investors, corporates, and other stakeholders, DPIIT aims to accelerate the growth of India’s startup ecosystem and promote sector-specific development across the country.
