Indian Electric Aircraft Start-up ePlane: Raised USD 14 Million

Founded by Satya Chakraborty in 2019, Indian flying taxi startup ePlane have strive towards their goal by successfully raising $14 million fund in Series B. In it’s pre-series A (January, 2022), ePlane had raised $5 million funding which was led by Speciale Invest and clean mobility fund Micelio.

This time the fund was led by Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures and also continued support from Micelio Mobility, Navel Ravikant (CEO AngelList), Java Capital, Samarthya Investment Advisor, Redstart (Naukri) and Anicut.

What ePlane aims :

Incubated in IIT Madras, ePlane is a successful Indian startup which works in the sector of aerospace and aviation. It focuses on the development of India’s electric vertical takeoff and landing eVTOL space. The fund raised by the company will be primarily used for flight testing planned in mid 2025 and development and certification of e-Plane manned aircrafts. With working on its testing facility, ePlane will also focus on enhancing and scaling up it’s drone technology commercialization through a wholly owned subsidiary.

ePlane is all set to launch by 2026

It is expected that ePlane first manned prototype will develop and undergo trial by April 2025. This aircraft will carry around 5 to 6 person including the pilot. As per their website, ePlane will only take 14 minutes to reach a place which takes around 60 minutes with a personal vehicle. ePlane is all set to boom in the global air taxi market through it’s battery backed aircraft. The company also aims to commercialize air taxis and ambulance by 2026 which will be a remarkable development by providing a sustainable, eco-friendly and faster mobility solutions in a country like India which is now long dealing with the issues of heavy traffic and pollution.
