Indore: The Starting Salary for Semiconductor Developers is Three Times Higher Than Software

18 March 2024 – Nearly all students who pass the IIT JEE or any other engineering entrance exam choose to major in computer science; however, if they choose to study electronics and Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI), they could earn three times (on average, 10 lakh annually) as much as a software developer (whose average starting salary is 3 lakh).

Dr Satya Gupta, the president of the VLSI Society of India, shared this information in an exclusive interview. He discussed how electronics and semiconductors are necessary to achieve Viksit Bharat. “By 2047, electronics will be a 4 trillion dollar industry in India, and out of this, 700 billion dollars will be semiconductors,” he said. In India, this enormous amount will provide at least 10 crore people jobs.

“10 crore people would be 7.5 per cent of the total projected population and 15 per cent of the working population in 2047,” Dr Gupta said. Mumbai: Businessman from Indore Seeking ₹100 Crore Loan in Bhayandar, Conned Out of ₹2 Crore

As a result, the semiconductor sector will contribute 15% of India’s GDP. “Such a large percentage will drive India’s economy, and electronics and semiconductors will improve all other technologies, which are the basic requirement of being a superpower in 2047,” stated Dr Gupta.
