Japan's Stock Market Closed Higher; The Nikkei 225 Gained 0.14%

18 April 2024 – Investing.com: Gains in the Transportation Equipment, Pharmaceutical Industry, and Marine Transport sectors drove up shares, resulting in higher Japan equities at the close on Thursday. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.14% at the closing.

Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) was the largest gainer of the afternoon on the Nikkei 225, rising 5.06% or 276.00 points to end at 5,742.00. In late trading, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) was up 3.68% or 14.00 points to 393.00, while Concordia Financial Group Ltd (TYO:7186) climbed 4.82% or 37.20 points to conclude at 808.80.

Fujifilm Holdings Corp. (TYO:4901) was one of the worst losers, dropping 3.13%, or 108.00 points, to trade at 3,347.00 in the late session. Rakuten Inc. (TYO:4755) lost 1.91%, or 15.30 points, to close at 781.70, while Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9007) was down 3.00%, or 56.00 points, to finish at 1,810.00.


Conclusion

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, rising equities exceeded declining ones by 2842 to 819, while 200 closed the day unchanged. The implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options is measured by the Nikkei Volatility, which increased by 6.20% to a new 3-month high of 22.09.
