NHAI Plans to Generate Rs 45, 00,000 Crore via the Sale of 33 Projects

18 April 2024 – Thirty-three projects have been designated for monetization by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in an effort to collect Rs 45,000 crore in the current fiscal year—nearly 12% higher than in 2023–2024. The 2,742 kilometres of total project length are distributed among 12 states.

The modalities of InvIT and Toll Operate Transfer (TOT) would be used to monetize the assets. According to officials, the majority of projects will be funded via TOT, in which winning bidders pay NHAI up front in exchange for the 20-year right to operate, maintain, and collect tolls.

Similar to a mutual fund, an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) allows institutional and individual investors to directly invest in infrastructure projects and receive a share of the revenue as a return. We are optimistic that we will reach this goal since the projects that have been selected have strong toll-collecting trends and are profitable for investors.

Conclusion

According to an NHAI representative, investors will get a return on their investment since the economy is functioning well. The 333 km Kanpur-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur, the 226 km Gurgaon-Jaipur, the 74-mile Haridwar-Muzaffarpur, and the 32 km Chennai Bypass are among the designated sections.
