Nikhil Kamath of Zerodha Talks About His Experience Dropping Out of School: “My Parents Had Given Up On Me”

Tax Saving Tip for Married Hindu Taxpayers: Utilizing Hindu Undivided Family (HUF)

26 March 2024 – Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath spoke about his experience as a school dropout and the stigma that comes with low-barrier employment, even when they bring in a lot of money, in a recent interview with The Print.

Regarding the responses he received after quitting school, Kamath said that his parents received the news more positively than he had expected. With a laugh, he said, “My parents had given up on me.” They seemed to have given up hope. He did point out that his extended family highly valued higher education.

“You start feeling unnerved when your friends graduate college and land their first job,” he said, “because there is a stigma associated with a job that lacks an entry barrier in society.” Any job may be the one.

Conclusion

Society stigmatizes call center positions because they do not require a degree or a certain level of competence or ability. Even if you make ₹1 lakh a month working in a call centre, a doctor who makes ₹25,000 a month is more accepted by society.
