Plenty of Chances in India, No Plans To Expand Abroad: Dream11's Harsh Jain

21 March 2024 – Cofounder and CEO of the gaming unicorn Dream11, Harsh Jain, said that the company is not planning to go worldwide and that it is still focused on the Indian market since there is sufficient potential there. Speaking at the “Startup Mahakumbh” in New Delhi, Jain advised entrepreneurs to first investigate domestic markets before branching out globally.

Many have inquired why we don’t expand worldwide. My response has always been: We own a really special edge. Our home market consists of one-sixth of the global population. You have a great edge since you are Indian,” he remarked.

At Dream11, AI is used extensively. He said, “We have a lot to accomplish in AI and sports. Therefore, we’ve set up an innovation hub in collaboration with Columbia University in the US, where we are focusing on machine learning and reinforcement learning.

The remarks are made at a time when the union government is aggressively supporting domestic businesses via programmes like Fund of Funds and Startup India, among others.
