21 March 2024 – Without question, Google has dominated internet searches for the last 20 years. “Google it” is a commonly used term for a reason, after all. However, with the introduction of AI tools like ChatGPT and Bing, it was believed that the way people searched for information would never again be the same.
However, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, isn’t thrilled about it. What’s intriguing, according to him, is different from the thought of competing with Google or creating a replica of their search engine. However, he is intrigued by the prospect of really assisting individuals in locating information more quickly and effectively. During his interview on Lex Fridman’s podcast, Altman was asked whether he believed OpenAI could challenge Google’s 20-year-old supremacy in the internet search market. In response, Altman said that he thought it was “boring.”
He went on to say that if OpenAI is able to develop a search engine that surpasses Google, then users need to “use the better product.” It would, Altman said, “understate what OpenAI’s tech could be.
Conclusion
“One technique for getting information on Google is to see 10 blue links, or rather, 13 advertising followed by 10 blue links. However, what excites me is not creating a better version of Google search but rather the possibility that there exists a more efficient method for assisting individuals in locating, using, and synthesizing data.
