Shanghai Cooperation Organization Startup Forum 5.0 Will Take Place in India in January 2025

22 March 2024 – The trade and industry ministry said on Thursday that India would host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization startup forum’s fifth meeting in January of the following year.

The eight-member SCO—China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, India, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan—aims to foster new contacts via this project. It said, “In the future, India will host the SCO Startup Forum 5.0 in January 2025 and the second meeting of the SWG in November 2024.”

On March 19, the SCO Startup Forum held its fourth session at this location. In 2022, the members established the Special Working Group (SWG) for Startups and Innovation with the goal of promoting cooperation among SCO member states, which would accelerate regional economic growth and boost the startup environment.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) conducted many rounds of meetings in 2023 before the member nations opted to agree and implement the SWG norms, which called for India to serve as the group’s permanent chair in the SCO.
