12 April 2024 Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) and Shell India have signed an MoU to establish public EV charging stations across India, utilizing Shell’s extensive fuel station network and TPEM’s insights from over 1.4 Lakh Tata EVs.

The collaboration aims to enhance the EV charging experience for customers by strategically placing chargers at locations frequented by Tata EV owners. Plans include convenient payment systems and loyalty programs.

Shell India emphasizes using 100% certified renewable sources for charging, ensuring a sustainable and efficient charging experience. The partnership aligns with promoting widespread EV adoption in India through digital integration and customer-centric initiatives.

The development coincides with a surge in EV sales in India, particularly in the two-wheeler segment. March saw electric two-wheeler registrations surpassing 1 Lakh units, indicating growing acceptance of EVs.

TPEM boasts a 71% market share in electric passenger vehicles, highlighting its leadership in the Indian EV market. The collaboration reflects efforts to cater to the increasing demand for EV charging infrastructure.
