20th May 2024 – In its pursuit of building one of the largest AI-ready workforces globally, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) witnessed a significant increase in average learning hours per employee in FY24. The IT giant reported an uptick in learning hours, with the average rising to 87.1 hours from 82.4 hours in the previous fiscal year.
Remarkably, this increase in learning hours was observed across all employee levels, including juniors, mid-level, and senior employees. TCS’s annual report for FY24 highlighted that even senior female employees outpaced their male counterparts in terms of learning hours for the fourth consecutive year.
Notably, Tata Consultancy Services doubled its generative AI projects pipeline to $900 million, reflecting its commitment to innovation and technology. The company also emphasized internal talent development, with 33% of job requirements fulfilled through upskilling and cross-skilling initiatives.
Despite a marginal rise in the percentage of employees above 50 years, there was a notable decline in the percentage of employees aged below 30. TCS logged a remarkable 51 million learning hours in FY24, acquiring nearly 5 million competencies.
K Krithivasan, Chief Executive and Managing Director of TCS, highlighted the company’s culture of lifelong learning and innovation, positioning TCS as the global top employer for the 9th consecutive year across 32 countries.
Tata Consultancy Services Elevate, the company’s program linking learning to career growth and reward, covered over 423,000 employees, with more than 35,200 identified as high talent and receiving increased compensation.
Overall, TCS’s focus on enhancing learning opportunities and nurturing talent underscores its commitment to creating a skilled and adaptive workforce ready for the challenges of tomorrow’s digital landscape.
