24Th April 2024 – Qualcomm has made public that it is now working on designing semiconductors in the nation. The president of Qualcomm India, Savi Soin, exclusively told CNBC that the tech giant has already started shipping chips made in India to all over the world. This is a big step for Qualcomm, which is well-known for its Snapdragon chips, which power the majority of Android devices globally.
Qualcomm is committing to investing in India’s rapidly growing IT sector. Soin highlighted the significant number of engineers working on end-to-end chip design in India, more than anywhere else in the world.
“India now has more engineers than any other country in the world. Many of our engineers are working on end-to-end chip design here,” he said.
Conclusion
Qualcomm is cognizant of the fact that complicated chip design requires tremendous investment, a large technical staff, and intensive research and development. With their investment of Rs 1.77 billion ($21.3 million), the corporation demonstrates its commitment to supporting the “Make in India” and “Design in India” programmes of the Indian government. With India turning into a critical market and a ray of hope, Qualcomm is involved in more than just chip creation.
