Mumbai, September 4, 2024 – Adani Enterprises is making waves in the global infrastructure sector with its latest venture into Kenya. The company has announced the establishment of a new subsidiary, Airports Infrastructure PLC (AIP), which will oversee the development and management of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.
This ambitious project marks Adani Enterprises’ first international expansion into the airport industry and underscores its commitment to global growth. AIP, owned by Global Airports Operator LLC based in Abu Dhabi, is tasked with a wide range of responsibilities including the operation, maintenance, design, construction, and modernization of airports.
Adani’s investment in this project is projected to be around $810 million, pending due diligence and final negotiations with Kenyan officials. This move is part of Adani’s broader $100 billion investment plan, with $21 billion dedicated specifically to the airport sector. The company already boasts a robust portfolio of airports across India, including major hubs in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and more. The new project in Nairobi will further cement Adani’s position as a global leader in airport infrastructure.
The development of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is expected to bring significant advancements in airport facilities and operations, potentially enhancing travel efficiency and creating new economic opportunities in the region. Adani Enterprises is also preparing for a major share sale aimed at raising Rs 16,700 crore to support its ambitious expansion plans.
