21 March 2024 – CEO Vinay Dube of Akasa Airlines has reaffirmed the company’s robust financial position and pilot resources amidst its upcoming international expansion. With ambitious plans to launch operations to key destinations, Akasa Air aims to solidify its position in the aviation industry. Despite past challenges with pilot retention, Dube remains optimistic about the airline’s trajectory.
In a recent interview with CNBC TV18, CEO Vinay Dube emphasized Akasa Air’s favorable financial outlook, highlighting its solid cash reserves and business model. With expectations of concluding the fiscal year on an unprecedented growth trajectory, the airline anticipates becoming India’s most punctual carrier by FY2023-24.
Addressing concerns about pilot shortages, Dube reassured stakeholders that Akasa Air currently boasts a roster of over 700 pilots. Despite previous challenges, including the unexpected departure of 43 pilots last year, the airline remains focused on attracting and retaining top talent.
However, legal disputes surrounding pilot departures have posed challenges for Akasa Air. Following a lawsuit seeking compensation from pilots who allegedly left without notice, the Delhi and Bombay High Courts have provided rulings regarding the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s authority to intervene in such matters.
