Assam's Startup Ecosystem Flourishes: Government Support Propels 489 Ventures to Success

11th June 2024- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma underscored the remarkable strides taken in the state’s startup ecosystem, attributing the progress to his government’s steadfast support and initiatives. According to Sarma, 489 startups have received extensive assistance from the state government over the past three years.

As part of its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, the government has allocated a grant of Rs 7 crore to 74 startups, facilitating their expansion and the realization of innovative concepts. Notably, startups incubated at Assam Startup-The Nest, a dedicated incubator, have collectively secured an impressive Rs 100 crore in external funding, highlighting their potential and viability.

Moreover, these startups have generated substantial revenue amounting to Rs 40 crore and have created 4,900 job opportunities, contributing significantly to the state’s economic growth and providing a platform for skilled professionals.

The Assam government’s proactive stance in nurturing startups has garnered praise from various quarters, with stakeholders commending the initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and innovation within the state.
