Health tech startup Doccla, headquartered in London, has successfully raised £15 million (~$17M) in a Series A funding round, positioning itself at the forefront of remote patient monitoring and virtual ward solutions. This latest funding surge comes just a year after the company secured $3.3 million in seed funding.

The Series A round was spearheaded by U.S. venture capital firm General Catalyst, with notable participation from KHP Ventures, a healthcare investment collaboration involving King’s College London and prominent NHS Trusts. Existing investors Giant Ventures and Speedinvest also supported the round, underscoring their confidence in Doccla’s vision and potential.

Founded in 2019, Doccla has rapidly expanded its presence, now operating in 20% of Integrated Care Systems (ICS) across the UK and collaborating with over 20 hospitals. The company’s platform enables hospitals to monitor patients remotely, either continuously or intermittently, reducing the burden on healthcare facilities by facilitating early discharge and freeing up hospital beds.

Doccla differentiates itself from competitors by offering an end-to-end service, which includes device provisioning, software integration, logistics, customer service, and tech support, particularly for elderly or non-digital native patients. This comprehensive approach has earned it significant partnerships with several NHS Trusts, including Northampton General Hospital and Hertfordshire Community Trust.

With the fresh injection of funds, Doccla plans to enhance its technology stack, integrating more medical devices and leveraging AI for predictive alerts. These advancements aim to boost clinical capacity, allowing healthcare systems to stretch their resources further without compromising patient safety.

As the demand for decentralised healthcare solutions grows, Doccla is also eyeing expansion into new European markets, aligning with the needs of overwhelmed healthcare systems and the evolving landscape of remote care.

The successful funding round highlights the growing confidence in Doccla’s potential to revolutionise healthcare delivery, making virtual wards a critical component of modern healthcare infrastructure.
