About Epic Games:

Epic Games, founded by Tim Sweeney in 1991, is a prominent game development company known for its popular titles like Fortnite and Rocket League. The Epic Games Store is a digital distribution platform for PC and Mac games.

In 2023, consumer spending on the PC Epic Games Store witnessed a substantial 16% increase, totaling $950 million. However, a noteworthy portion of this spending was attributed to Epic-produced games.

Despite the overall surge, spending on third-party PC games experienced a 13% decline year-over-year, amounting to $310 million.

Flagship games like Fortnite and Rocket League, along with third-party offerings like Genshin Impact, Dead Island 2, and Grand Theft Auto 5, commanded substantial player engagement and spending.

The user base of the Epic Games Store witnessed a significant 17% increase year-over-year, reaching 270 million users. Additionally, Epic cross-platform accounts saw a notable uptick of nearly 11%, climbing to 804 million.

Developers were provided new self-publishing avenues, leading to a noteworthy expansion in the store’s game catalog. Over 1,300 new titles were introduced, doubling the count from the previous year.

Despite a slight reduction in the number of free game titles offered, with 86 in 2023 compared to 99 in 2022, these games were collectively claimed 586 million times.

Epic Games announced plans for the European launch of the Epic Games Store on iOS, operated by Epic Games Sweden AB. The launch is expected later in the year, providing an extended platform for users in the region.

The Epic Games Store’s impressive financial performance in 2023, coupled with strategic expansions and plans, solidifies its position as a key player in the digital gaming market.
