30 March 2024 – The European Space Agency (ESA) has recently showered praise on the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its significant accomplishments in space exploration. Speaking after ESA’s Council meeting in Paris, ESA director Josef Aschbacher highlighted ISRO’s remarkable progress, particularly in lunar exploration. This commendation reflects the growing recognition of India’s contributions to space science and technology.
During the 323rd Council meeting of ESA in Paris, ISRO Chairman S Somanath joined discussions where Aschbacher emphasized the importance of international collaboration in advancing space exploration efforts. Aschbacher lauded India’s strides in space, noting its notable contributions to lunar exploration and other space missions.
Astronaut Thomas Pesquet echoed Aschbacher’s sentiments, expressing excitement about the fruitful discussions held between ISRO and ESA leadership during the meeting. India’s accomplishments in space have garnered global admiration, showcasing the country’s growing capabilities in space science and technology.
ISRO’s achievements in 2023, including the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon’s South Pole and the launch of Aditya-L1, its first solar mission, have underscored its prowess in space exploration. Chandrayaan-3’s historic soft landing on August 23, 2023, positioned India among the top nations to achieve such a feat and marked a significant milestone in lunar exploration.
The deployment of Aditya-L1 into the Halo orbit further solidified India’s standing in space exploration, demonstrating its commitment to advancing scientific research and exploration beyond Earth’s boundaries.
