Former Unacademy COO Vivek Sinha receives $11 million for an edtech company from Lightspeed and Matrix

18 April 2024 – On April 19, Vivek Sinha, the former COO of Unacademy, announced the creation of Beyond Odds Technologies, a new business venture sponsored by Matrix Partners India and Lightspeed. The initial investment is $11 million.

This comes months after Moneycontrol published an exclusive story on the transaction in December, claiming that Oyo Group CEO and founder Ritesh Agarwal and Unacademy CEO and co-founder Gaurav Munjal were also involved in the funding round.

According to a company statement, the enterprise has received backing from several individuals, including Mayank Kumar of upGrad, Ramakant Sharma of Livspace, Abhishek Goyal of Tracxn, Rohit MA of CloudNine Hospitals, Sumer Juneja of Softbank, and Puneet Kumar of Steadview Capital.

According to “Beyond Odds Technologies,” it is a technology-enabled employability-led platform that finds, develops, accredits, and places people in blue-collar jobs in sectors including hospitality, healthcare, education, and construction.

Conclusion

“By generating a high-quality supply from India, our platform will alleviate the shortages of skilled labour in both local and international markets. Our initial project, “University,” is a higher education brand that assists colleges in combining their degrees with employable abilities.
