Hurun: The number of Unicorn Startups in India Declines in the First

10 April 2024 – According to the Hurun Global Unicorn Index, the number of startup unicorns in India has decreased for the first time, from 68 to 67. In 2024, there were 70 new unicorns in the US, 56 in China, and 45 unicorns in the rest of the globe.

With 21 and 11 unicorn-erasing enterprises, respectively, the US and China likewise witnessed the highest percentage of dropouts. Once dropouts were taken into consideration, the US had 703 unicorns, compared to 340 in China. There are now fewer unicorns in the UAE, Australia, and Sweden—one less than before.

According to Hurun’s most recent report, 171 unicorns were added worldwide in the last year. This is a record number, with 1,453 unicorns in total, a new global record and a 7% increase. The greatest unicorn in terms of value to fall off the list worldwide was Byjus, while OpenAI and SpaceX saw notable boosts in valuation.

Conclusion

Fintech, AI, blockchain, and new energy are the industries developing at the highest rate this year, with fintech leading the pack. The study also highlights the creation of new unicorns in different countries and sectors.
