28 February 2024 – A groundbreaking development emerges from the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) as the IIT Madras Incubator, supported by the Union Science Ministry, introducing India’s first septic tank cleaning robot. Named Homosep Atom, this robotic innovation not only addresses a critical sanitation challenge but also holds the potential to eradicate manual scavenging, thereby saving lives.

The septic tank cleaning robot, Homosep Atom, is the brainchild of Solinas, a deep-tech and climate-tech startup incubated at IIT Madras. Homosep Atom signifies a significant shift in addressing the perilous task of manual scavenging.
