21st June 2024- The India-European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Working Group 2 recently hosted a startup matchmaking event focused on Battery Recycling Technologies for Electric Vehicles. This event, held on June 20, 2024, featured twelve high-impact solution providers selected through a rigorous evaluation process by an independent Committee of Experts. Criteria included scientific merit, market readiness, and potential for collaboration between India and the EU.
Startups such as Lohum, LW3 Pvt Ltd., and BatX Energies from India, alongside Alterity, Ecomet Refining, and others from EU member states, participated in pitching their innovative technologies covering the battery recycling value chain.
Ambassadors H.E. Mr. Saurabh Kumar and H.E. Mr. Herve Delphin, along with key figures like Professor Ajay Kumar Sood and Mr. Marc Lemaitre, underscored the significance of fostering innovation and cooperation in green technologies, particularly in the burgeoning electric vehicle sector.
Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood highlighted the event as a platform for knowledge exchange and potential investments, announcing upcoming exchange trips for selected startups to explore EV battery recycling facilities in both regions.
Mr. Marc Lemaitre emphasized the environmental benefits of advancing battery recycling technologies and the event’s role in enhancing EU-India innovation partnerships under the Trade and Technology Council.
The next phase involves awarding three startups from each region the opportunity to visit and engage with stakeholders in the EU and India, facilitating potential collaborations and market insights.
