IndiGo Unveils Expansion Plans, Aims to Double in Size by 2030, CEO Pieter Elbers Reveals

27 March 2024 – IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced ambitious expansion goals, targeting a significant increase in size by 2030 through the addition of new international and domestic routes. CEO Pieter Elbers emphasizes the airline’s commitment to aligning with India’s economic growth and enhancing its global footprint.

Elbers outlines IndiGo’s strategy to double its size by the end of the decade, emphasizing the expansion of its overseas operations with the introduction of A321 XLR aircraft by 2025. Despite challenges such as Pratt & Whitney engine issues, the airline remains focused on mitigating disruptions and maintaining operational stability.

IndiGo aims to broaden its codeshare partnerships, leveraging collaborations with leading airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines, and Turkish Airways, among others. The airline is poised to enhance its route network, both domestically and internationally, to support its growth objectives. Preliminary efforts have already commenced to facilitate this expansion.
