For ex: during and after COVID-19 there is this one product that we didn’t know about for a while, a robotic air purifier and vacuum cleaner which is a circular device that moves around for cleaning purposes.

Sounds fun! What I am trying to say here is that we understand the importance of the ‘sustainable life, smart life’ concept. Futuristic innovation has to be attached to trending necessities to maintain the desired balance.

One such venture which is actively working towards advancing the healthcare/pharmaceuticals sector along with introducing newly designed products for renewable energy utilisation is, Iota Design and the excitement about Iota is ‘to be continued’……

A compelling tale of machines and miracles The IOTA’s pursuit is to create technological solutions in terms of products and services for the healthcare, pharma, and clean energy sectors through deep market research and the application of scientific findings. The technologies are designed in such a way that they provide sustaining alternatives to human beings and their problems. Currently, they are developing two product prototypes in the wellness segment;

1. One of them involves the design and development of a technology that can yield multi-scale scaffolds/composite materials for skin tissue regeneration. This is a product for the cosmetic/biomedical sector (TLR-2).

   diagnostic services. The company was founded under the name, Iota Design and Innovation Labs Pvt. Ltd. on 14th August 2020. Iota Design secured a BIRAC SITARE grant of INR 15 Lakhs for the development of a blood microsampler in 2020. They also secured a BIG BIRAC Grant of INR 50 Lakhs for the development of engineered dual-layer human skin for drug and cosmetic screening in 2020. Later, they procured a 28 lakh Grant from the Gujarat govt in 2022 for the blood microsampler project. Since its inception, they have filed 4 patents, out of which 1 patent was granted in 2021. Additionally, IOTA has given training and employment to 10-15 people.

Sneak peek into Founder’s lives

Mr. Prasoon Kumar completed his Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) from IIT, Bombay, and is an expert in medical device innovation. He was a research collaborator with a healthcare firm for 3 years and co-founded IDIL by introducing 3D printers for printing soft materials and gels and a blood auto-micro sampler for biomedical and pharmaceutical analysis.

Mr. Kaushik Choudhary is a Physicist and Entrepreneur by profession. He works at the interface of physics and engineering, to develop affordable healthcare solutions and point-of-care diagnostics. He earned my Ph.D. in interferometric observation of laser plasma-induced shockwaves, jointly from IIT Bombay (India) and Monash University (Australia).

He co-founded Iota Design in which he hands out technical advice and suggestions on policy matters. He is an expert in instrumentation and optics. Mr. Vaibhav Shitole is an expert in pharmaceutical-based medical devices and earned his MS Pharma from NIPER Ahmedabad. He finds happiness in creation, innovation, and technology development intended to bring positive changes in the real world.

Mr. Pradeep Kumar Verma pursued Btech (mechanical engineering) and worked as a Design Engineer at Sphinx Worldbiz Ltd. He then became a co-founder with Iota Design a year back and has contributed efficiently to designing and fabricating new materials with the help of his CAD/ CAM software interpretation.

The company’s motto and mission

In terms of providing services to the customer base, Iota Design has set up their Conceptual Studio where they engage in product development, proof of their existing concept, and fabrication of the process. The studio also promoted upskilling and training individuals to adopt innovative approaches. Their main collaborators and clients include NIT Rourkela, IISc, and Central University of Gujarat.

They are keen on making engineered skin models for drugs which is an alternative to animal models as in how animal tissues are used in making cosmetics. As cosmetics is a rapidly growing industry currently with a huge rate of investment, it has become naturally important to provide anti-aging solutions but not at the cost of inhuman or dangerous acts. It should be about deep research and development. IDIL is committed to promoting a culture of creative thinking among individuals and providing them a platform to turn their imagination into reality.
