Meghalaya Aims to Empower 20,000 Entrepreneurs in 3-4 Years

Shillong, 11 February 2024 –  Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has unveiled Meghalaya’s ambitious plan to empower over 20,000 entrepreneurs across various sectors within the next three to four years. During the concluding session of the PRIME Megha Preneur Expo 2024 at Polo Ground, he emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, citing their recognition as a top-performing state in the national startup awards among small states by the Government of India.

Highlighting the tangible government support, Sangma announced a total contribution of approximately Rs 22.67 crore to bolster 71 entrepreneurs in diverse sectors. The government’s strategy, as part of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance-1, focuses on fostering entrepreneurship as a key driver of the state’s economy and a significant employment generator.

Sangma detailed initiatives like CM ELEVATE, a progressive entrepreneurship program, offering a 75% subsidy and comprehensive assistance to nurture business growth, logistical support, and administrative support. Currently supporting over 5,500 entrepreneurs, the government anticipates a substantial increase in the coming years.
