Meet the Dynamic Duo

The dedicated individuals behind Mittihub are Megha Joshi and Abhinav Agarwal. Both completed their graduation in 2022 from GCEC (Global Centre for Entrepreneurship & Commerce) and pursued B.com Hons. in International Finance and BBA Hons. in Entrepreneurship, respectively. Megha has a great experience in the fields of finance & content creation. She has worked with reputed CA firms, tech startups and more.

Abhinav & Meghna Co-founders of Mittihub

Abhinav Agarwal is a core team member at Headstart Network Foundation, India’s largest startup ecosystem enabler. He has worked with startups like Honest Create, inVoid (Y Combinator-backed), and Infinity Box, making a disruptive change in the ecosystem. This dynamic duo turned their dream into a reality with their determination and commitment.

Mittihub’s vision is to uplift the potters’ community and help them earn a sustainable livelihood in their respective artwork. Usually, the artisans do not get a defined platform to upgrade their skills. To overcome such a problem, Mittihub provides extensive training to individuals who aspire to transform the world with their creative art.

Flexible Revenue Model

Mittihub adopts a dual business model- B2B and B2C. Their revenue comes primarily from the sale of handcrafted terracotta products, which are available through the dynamic and transparent e-commerce platform. In addition, they also partner with physical stores and other online handicraft stores to expand their distribution channels and e-commerce platforms to reach a wider audience. By providing an intuitive online shopping experience, the platform generates interest and drives traffic to the website.

Additionally, the team uses social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to promote the products, engage with their target audience and educate them on the benefits of the products. Mittihub has also expanded its reach over 10+ places.

Acknowledging Multiple Challenges

Mittihub addresses the pressing concerns surrounding detrimental practices that adversely impact our environment and well-being. The indiscriminate use of harmful materials such as plastic, melamine, and glass has led to widespread environmental degradation. The traditional terracotta products available in the market are coated with glaze, which essentially entails a topmost layer of fused glass.

While this facilitates easier cleaning of the vessels, it poses significant risks to both individual health and the environment. To solve this problem, Mittihub promotes handmade pottery products. Its initiative aims at rectifying the ongoing issue of diminishing traditional art forms, exacerbated by exploitative practices of intermediaries, ultimately resulting in unemployment within India’s artisanal community.

Artisans often bear commissions in the 60-70% range when selling their products through middlemen. This practice has led to the gradual erosion of centuries-old art forms, compelling experienced artisans to seek work as daily wage labourers to make ends meet.

Journey So Far

While working on a project in college, the founders observed that the terracotta handicrafts industry had three major issues- the dying of the art form, the high commissions from middlemen, and the finishing glaze.

Mittihub was thus started with pre-orders to ensure profitability right from the outset. They believed in the power of word of mouth, making it their primary driver. When they officially launched Mittihub in mid-2021, their online store was already in motion. So far, they are proud to reveal that 25 artisan families are now enjoying a steady source of income through this social venture.
