Nazara Technologies Invests Rs 982 Crore in PokerBaazi Parent Moonshine Technology

Nazara Technologies has made a strategic move to strengthen its foothold in India’s rapidly growing gaming market. The company has announced a Rs 982 crore investment in Moonshine Technology Private Limited, the parent company of PokerBaazi, one of India’s leading online poker platforms. The investment is broken down into Rs 832 crore for a 47.7% stake through a secondary transaction, and Rs 150 crore in primary capital via compulsory convertible preference shares.

Nazara’s Strategy to Dominate India’s Gaming Sector

With this deal, Nazara Technologies is positioning itself as a dominant player in India’s diverse gaming ecosystem. Nitish Mittersain, CEO of Nazara Technologies, emphasized the importance of this partnership: “This investment helps us solidify our leadership in India’s gaming sector by backing a proven and innovative platform like Moonshine Technology.”

PokerBaazi, the flagship product of Moonshine Technology, leads India’s online poker market, generating 85% of the company’s net revenue. By May 2024, the platform boasted 340,000 monthly active users. In addition to poker, SportsBaazi, Moonshine’s fantasy sports platform, contributes around 12% of the company’s total revenues.
