6 April 2024 – Tata Steel India has reported its highest annual crude steel production of 20.8 million metric tons for the fiscal year 2023-24. This marks a notable 4 per cent increase compared to the previous year, according to provisional data released by the company.
In the Jan-March quarter, Tata Steel India maintained stable crude steel production levels, recording around 5.38 million metric tons. The growth in domestic deliveries by 9 per cent year-on-year reflects the robust demand for steel within the country.
However, the company faced challenges in its overseas operations. In the Netherlands, Tata Steel’s production for the fiscal year 2023-24 declined by 24 per cent to 4.8 million metric tons compared to the previous year. Similarly, production in the UK remained stagnant at 3.02 million metric tons, mirroring the figures from the preceding year.
Despite the hurdles encountered in its international ventures, Tata Steel India’s performance demonstrates resilience and strength in its domestic operations, driven by increased demand for steel within India.
