11th June 2024-Former Apple employees Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno’s startup, Humane, is facing scrutiny due to disappointing reviews of its wearable AI Pin. Priced at $699, the device failed to impress critics with its laser projection system.
Reports suggest that Humane is considering selling its business, with talks of a potential acquisition by tech giant HP for over $1 billion. This comes after a senior software engineer was allegedly fired for questioning the AI Pin’s readiness.
Despite warnings about technical limitations like poor battery life, Humane aimed to sell 100,000 units in its first year but only received around 10,000 orders by April.
In an interview, Bongiorno admitted to facing challenges, while Chaudhri expressed regret over handling some issues. The fate of the AI Pin and the potential acquisition by HP remain uncertain, leaving Humane’s future in question.
Humane’s AI Pin faces criticism and internal challenges, leading to speculation about the company’s potential sale to HP.
