"We're Already a Rival to Tesla," Said the CEO Of A Bhopal Startup Whose Automated Mahindra Bolero Went Viral

05 April 2024 – Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, recently posted a video showing a self-driving Bolero SUV on social media. The SUV is seen traveling through the congested streets of Bhopal.

Sanjeev Sharma of Swaayatt Robots, the man responsible for the change, claimed to have shown off a technology capable of navigating Indian streets. In an interview with News18, he said that Elon Musk’s Tesla is a rival to his firm. Sharma said that his business may rapidly attain this aim, given finance and resources, despite the fact that most experts—including Tesla—estimate that completely autonomous vehicles are still ten years away.

Sharma gave an account of how things started and how his business became into a strong rival to Tesla. Remembering his time at IIT Roorkee, he claimed that his interest in studying the difficulties of autonomous driving in dynamic traffic settings was sparked by seeing some movies produced by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the DARPA Urban Challenge.

Conclusion

Along with his experience at IIT Roorkee, he has held positions as a research assistant professor in Israel, a tenure-track position in computer science at the University of Alberta, and a research assistant position under the renowned reinforcement learning pioneer, Professor Richard S. Sutton.
