AI-Powered Climate Solutions in India Are Supported by a Google-backed Fund

Google.org, Google’s charitable arm, and the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) have partnered to sponsor the $5 million APAC Sustainability Seed Fund 2.0, which will be distributed to four Indian organizations as grants. The goal of this initiative is to address pressing environmental and societal concerns by advancing technology and AI-based solutions.

The recipients from India consist of

AI-powered digital solutions are being developed by INREM Foundation to assist communities in managing and monitoring water contamination.

Lake protection and improved carbon sinking capacity through the use of satellite data and machine learning, according to the CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF).

Establishing cutting-edge models to offer water security insights at the village level is the goal of the Institute for Financial Management and Research (WELL Labs).

Building an AI system to recognize urban heat islands and create community-beneficial solutions is the goal of Gujarat Mahila Housing Sewa Trust (MHT).

The previous $3 million APAC Sustainability Seed Fund 1.0 by Google.org, which assisted in saving over 13 million tons of water and 3,700 tonnes of carbon emissions in India’s agriculture sector, is being followed by this program.
