In Conversation with Harshit Aggarwal, Founder of Novamax Appliances

Novamax Appliances, a company founded in 2019 by Harshit Aggarwal, has made a significant mark in the air cooler industry. In just 5 years, the company has earned Rs 160 crore in revenue, with a focus on creating high-quality, affordable desert air coolers. Despite competition from larger companies like Symphony and Bajaj, Novamax keeps its pricing competitive without compromising on quality.

1. Aman: Talking about coolers. What do you do differently that other brands are not able to do?

Harshit: We make all our coolers UV-protected, meaning they absorb sunlight and can be run even when placed in the sun. This is one of our specialties. You’ll notice the durability of the body – you could try to break it, even with a wrestler, and it still won’t break.

2. Aman: Is the specific design due to a special mechanism, or is it just for aesthetics?

Harshit: It’s not just the design. There’s a complete mechanism and a lot of science behind it. We only bring coolers to market after testing for 1 to 1.5 years, and we provide a warranty. This science impacts air delivery and overall performance.

3. Aman: What are the price ranges for your coolers?

Harshit: Our coolers start at Rs 4500, and we have models going up to Rs 25,000. We offer various coolers depending on the need—restaurants, weddings, small rooms, large rooms, hospitals, and public places. There’s a cooler for every requirement.

4. Aman: Your journey has been inspiring, and you’ve achieved so much at such a young age. Who has been your inspiration?

Harshit: My father has been my inspiration. I’ve grown up watching him work, and even today, we operate under his guidance. He’s our leader and role model.

5. Aman: Besides your father, who’s another entrepreneur you admire?

Harshit: I follow Warren Buffett a lot.

6. Aman: Describe Novamax in three words.

Harshit: Best in quality, best in price, best in everything.

7. Aman: Founders live quite hectic lives. What does relaxation mean to you?

Harshit: I get some relaxation during the off-season in July when sales slow down. That’s when I spend time with family or friends.

8. Aman: In your six-year journey, what was the best and worst day?

Harshit: Every day has been the best. Every day I’ve learned something new.

9. Aman: What’s your favorite travel destination?

Harshit: New Zealand.

10. Aman: What’s the best advice you’ve received?

Harshit: Whatever work you do, do it with complete honesty and give 100%. Success will follow.

11. Aman: Who’s your favorite actor or actress?

Harshit: My favorite actor is Tony Stark, and my favorite actress is Kate Winslet from Titanic.

12. Aman: If you weren’t a businessman, what would you be?

Harshit: I love sports. I would have pursued a career in sports.

13. Aman: What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those worried about not having enough money or a team to start a business?

Harshit: Focus on solving problems or saving people’s time and money. Business ideas that address these areas will succeed. There are many investors, and even the government supports startups. But the first step is crucial. You can’t keep waiting for the money—start with what you have, and things will begin to fall into place.
