Shree Cement Unveils New Plant in Guntur, Set to Create 2,000 Jobs

2 April 2024 – Shree Cement Limited, a major player in India’s cement industry, has inaugurated its latest integrated cement plant in Dachepalli village, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. The state-of-the-art facility, completed six months ahead of schedule with an investment exceeding Rs 2,500 crore, is poised to bolster the region’s infrastructure while providing significant employment opportunities.

With a cement production capacity of 3 million tons per annum (MTPA), the new plant represents Shree Cement’s commitment to expansion and technological advancement. Strategically located to serve the burgeoning markets of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, it is projected to create approximately 700 direct jobs and 1,300 indirect employment opportunities.

Managed by Shree Cement’s Managing Director, Neeraj Akhoury, the plant boasts advanced manufacturing technologies aimed at optimizing efficiency and reducing emissions. Notably, it incorporates innovative practices such as utilizing 30% alternate fuel and raw materials, including municipal waste and biomass, setting a new standard in sustainability within the Indian cement industry.

Moreover, the facility prioritizes energy efficiency and conservation, meeting 75% of its power requirements through a combination of waste heat recovery and solar energy systems. It operates as a zero-waste, water-positive entity, further enhancing its environmental credentials.

Akhoury emphasized Shree Cement’s dedication to modernization and sustainability, encapsulated in their ‘Build Smart’ philosophy. With plans to achieve a production capacity of 80 MTPA by 2028 and the commissioning of 13 additional plants, the company remains steadfast in its pursuit of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
