The Indian government is getting ready to strengthen its defenses near the Pakistani border in western Rajasthan by deploying six Apache AH-64E combat helicopters from Boeing, an American aircraft company. The Army Aviation Corps will get the helicopters on Friday, and they will become a part of a new squadron.
In 2020, Boeing provided the Indian Air Force (IAF) with 22 Apache AH-64Es as per an earlier deal. India is one of just a few countries possessing these kinds of combat helicopters, operating them with sophisticated night vision systems and missiles that can attack 138 targets in a minute.
According to a defense spokesperson cited by ET, “the IAF currently operates 22 AH-64Es, while the Army Aviation Corps has ordered an additional six.” This acquisition strengthens India’s air power in addition to that of countries that also operate these aircraft, such as the Netherlands, Egypt, Greece, Israel, and South Korea.
Conclusion
The Apache AH-64E, widely regarded as the most sophisticated combat helicopter in the world, is outfitted with missiles that can hit 138 targets in a minute and a cutting-edge night vision system. It is also equipped with AGM 114 Hellfire anti-tank missiles, Hydra-70 unguided missiles intended for ground-based targets, and Stinger missiles to neutralize aerial threats. These provide a potent counter to aerial and ground threats, with the Hellfire missiles being specially engineered to destroy armored vehicles such as BMPs and tanks.
