India Set to Conclude Deal for 24 Bullet Trains from Japan by Month-End

07 March 2024 – India is on track to finalize the procurement deal for 24 E5 Series Shinkansen trains (bullet trains) from Japan by the end of this month. With accelerated progress, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) aims to commence the first bullet train operation between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in June-July 2026.

  • NHSRCL plans to bid out all contracts, encompassing train procurement and the operating system, by August 15, 2024.
